Phillip Malloy believes that his English teacher Ms. Narwin has it out for him. She gives him bad grades, she’s always calling him out in class, and she even got him suspended for humming the National Anthem. The situation escalates as the story is re-told between school staff, principles, district administration and community members. The story eventually spreads to the national level. Ms. Narwin’s reputation as one of the school’s best teachers shatters, but was Phillip’s story completely really true?

This dramatic book is great for middle school students. It is written in documentary style through letters, diary entries, school memos and transcripts of dialogue, which makes it a fun and realistic read.
