The Perks of Being a Wallflower follows Charlie through his freshman year of high school. Charlie is not a popular kid and he’s very reserved and has few friends. He finally finds his niche while at a football game. The books follows Charlie’s ups and downs with his new group of friends including love, heartbreak, and drugs and drinking. Through the story we grow to love Charlie and are shocked by the twists of the story.

This book was recommended to me by some of my eighth grade girls. I would suggest it for other eighth graders that can handle mature content.
