Luke is the third son in a country where having three children is illegal. Luke has to hide in his house from everyone except his immediate family. In the first years of his life it’s not so bad because his family’s house is secluded and he can spend time outside in the woods. As time goes on though, the neighborhood is developed and Luke must spend most his time in the attic, not even allowed to eat at the dinner table. One day Luke thinks he spots another hidden child in a new home in the neighborhood. Everything changes for Luke as he plans a way to meet this person and learns more about the world outside.

The plot of this book was very intriguing and I would recommend it to my students, boys and girls. The story is interesting but easy to understand. And it’s a series! I can’t wait to read the next one.
