Jesse is determined to be the fastest kid in fifth grade. He likely would have been if it weren’t for the new girl in school, Leslie, who beats him. Soon Jesse and Leslie become close friends and create an imaginary kingdom named Terabithia where they rule as king and queen. Here, they are able to truly be themselves and escape from the outside world.

This story encourages creativity, imagination, and confidence in oneself.  It has a good message for young people, but is best for students who have the ability to handle emotional topics.
