Series: 2nd of 4

This is the 2nd book in the Joey Pigza series. The first book introduced Joey as a “wired” kid who had some difficult problems to deal with at home while he managed his ADHD. In this book, Joey seems to be doing well and is looking forward to visiting his dad this summer for the first time! However when he gets there he finds out that his dad believes Joey can get along fine without his medication. His dad feels that since he beat alcoholism cold turkey than Joey can beat ADHD cold turkey. Joey is faced with making some difficult choices in regards to his meds. He knows they make him feel better but he does not want to disappoint his dad, with whom he is just trying to develop a relationship.

Any student would love reading about Joey Pigza. It is a good story for kids who are dealing with ADHD or problems at home such as divorce or alcoholism.
