The book begins with the Baudelaire orphans and Mr.Poe outside of the Prufrock Preparatory School. As they walk to the Vice principals office they notice writing on the wall that states “remember you will die” the children are preparing themselves for the worst. At the academy they sleep in a shack designated for only orphans where they meet The Quagmires who help them through their hard times. Count Olaf disguises himself as Coach Gengis making the orphans do outrageous physical and mental tests, if they failed they would be “tutored” personally by him. In the end The Quagmires help them out of a sticky situation and are punished for it when Count Olaf is founded out, he kidnaps The Quagmires because they also have a wealthy inheritance. The Baudelaires are safe but very worried for their new friends.

This book is great for an adventuress reader who likes books about friendship, creativity and spooky characters.

In the 4th book the Baudelaire children are sent to live with the owner of Lucky Smells Lumbermill and yet Count Olaf shows up in a costume disguised as a woman, Shirley. In this book the children dig deeper into their parents past, learning that they were apart of a secret club. Klaus becomes hypnotized as part of count Olaf’s plan to get the children inheritance. In the end after Klaus is saved they are sent to Prutrock Prepatory boarding school because they are running out of relatives, and Mr.Poe believes they should be in school.

This book involves crazy characters, interesting settings and a mysterious hypnotist, a great adventures read for any age.

In the 3rd book the Baudelaire orphans are sent to live with their aunt Josephine. Their aunt has developed many fears ove the years after her husband has passed. While out on a shopping trip they unfortunately run into Count Olaf, their nemesis dressed as a charming sailor. Aunt Josephine is blind sided by his charm and soon enough she’s stranded in a cove. The children must save her life by decoding her “suicide note,” and sailing through the storm on the infamous leech filled Lake Lachrymose. In the end Aunt Josephine is swallowed up by the leeches and the kids are once again on the move.

This book has an amazing array of descriptions, and uses dark vocabulary. Great book for all students who enjoy a little spookiness.

Klaus loves to read, Violet is an inventor and Sunny is only a toddler but has a strong bite. The series begins after their parents tragic death in a mysteries house fire. The children are placed in the custody of their cousin count Olaf who is only interested in their families inheritance and will kill any one who gets in his way!

The series of unfortunate events is great to get kids to continue reading books all year by getting them hooked on a great adventuress series. The characters are humorous and haunting.

The series is about the Baudelaire children and their unfortunate life that all began with their parents death in a house fire. The kids also have a nemesis, Count Olaf who is after their family fortune. In this book they are sent to their uncle Monty’s house where they are delighted to help out with his reptile room. Uncle Monty is planning a family trip to Peru and is planning on bringing his prized pet viper and a assistant. Count Olaf spoils the plan, dressed as the assistant he lures Uncle Monty to his death and the Baudelaire children are once again on an unfortunate adventure to find a guardian who can survive Count Olaf’s scheming.

The series of Unfortunate Events is an amazing series that is full of adventure, imagination and has a dark undertone that is addicting to read. The book also gives definitions of harder words in a creative way and has charming illustrations with each chapter.
