The main character, Jack, son of the infamous Jack and the Bean Stalk, lives in the fairy tale world. Trying to restore his family’s reputation, he embarks on an adventure with a princess name May. May, however isn’t a princess, she is from our world. Together with Jack, they both adventured on this crazy and wild fairy tale land.

This book is fun and hilarious, I know every one will enjoy it. For City of Lakes AmeriCorps members, it’ll bring back childhood memories and for middle school students, it’ll help them realized how fun it is to be young and full of energy.

The third and final installment of William Nicholson’s Wind on Fire trilogy brings the epic saga of the Manth people to a head, as they break free of their former enslavers and seek a perhaps non-existent homeland. Bowman and Kestrel continue to grow older and are now young adults, with new problems and hopes and dreams.

If you enjoyed the previous books, you have to continue on to this final one. Not a let-down at all, like some endings to long stories can be.

The Wind Singer is the first of William Nicholson’s wonderful fantasy trilogy, but stands perfectly well on its own. A rich and interesting world with likeable characters, it deals with some sometimes heavy themes such as caste systems, family relations, and individuality.

All lovers of fantasy will enjoy this one, so will anyone who sounds interested in the more real-life themes above

In the second installment of William Nicholson’s trilogy, brother and sister Bowman and Kestrel are separated after their city is attacked by a far away empire. This book continues the deeper themes of the previous book, while focusing more on ideas about slavery, large empires, and other personal issues, as the characters grow older.

Anyone interested in fantasy or the above themes would like this book.

Book 4 of 5

In the fourth summer of the sisterhood, each girl has new experiences. They have only phone calls, e-mails, and the Traveling Pants to tie them together, until Lena’s sister loses the Pants in Greece. The crisis brings them all together. They finally realize that the Pants are not really important.

This is another great installment in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series. I would recommend it to anyone– but it’s probably best to have read the other books or at least seen the film first.

Everyone who is into fairy tales or re-written stories of Cinderella would enjoy this book. It is a good read and I could not put it down. It is also because I really enjoy reading fairy tales.
