Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is following Harry into his 5th year at Hogwarts. On top of his normal antics, he is facing a lot more homework due to the O.W.L. exams that will help place him into his future career. Hogwarts is also facing the heavy hand of the Ministry of Magics involvement to control Dumbledore and discredit him as a top wizard. Dolores Umbridge is the embodiment of this heavy hand and she seeks to take control of Hogwarts and Harry.

I would recommend this book to my students but there would be a lot of language barriers for them to hash out. I think for a non native English speaker, there might be too much fantastical language for them to sift through to really enjoy this book.

It is about Harry Potter who was entered into the ‘Tri-Wizard Tournament’ by an unknown enemy at Hogwarts. He has to complete three tasks, against older students from the other European wizarding schools, to win the cup and money. He later finds out that Lord Voldemort has been staging the tournament to lure Harry to him so He can regain his full power and kill Harry.

I would recommend this book to advanced and proficient readers but not ELs. It would be too difficult for them to follow along with and would lose their interest with its complexity of fantastical language

It’s finally time for Harry Potter and his friends to defeat the Dark Lord Voldemort. In order to do so, Harry, Ron, and Hermione have to complete the quest that Headmaster Dumbledore has left them. They must destroy the Horcruxes that leave Voldemort invincible.

This is a wonderful end to this series. Not only have all the characters grown from the first book, so has the story and plot to become a rich and fulfilling read.
